SNOWBIRD

Harvey Thomas and I recorded Snowbird at Bill Wiley Studio in Tacoma WA. Bill had upgraded to a 4 track recorder by then so we had "plenty of room" to record the way we wanted. Harvey recorded all the music at one time on his "Infernal Music Machine" as he called his setup. He got so much music out of that. Harvey had called me on a Wednesday and told me we were doing Snowbird that Friday night...Well, I hadn't learned it yet. So turned on my trusty Sony 530 reel to reel tape recorder and sat by the radio waiting for the song to come on. When it did, I hit record .. Then played it over until I had all the words written down. I had the melody after hearing it a couple of times. So the rest of the day and Thursday and Friday, as I had time, I was memorizing words.. So, Friday night, as Harvey had said, we did Snowbird..Came through just fine..It was a staple song after that..People would request it sometimes six to eight times in an evening...An interesting time in music..Oh yes, Snowbird was the A side b/w Have You Ever Been Lonely.
